G8 Leaders Reach Agreement on Aid, Trade and Debt

Tanzanian President Benjamin Mkapa and U.S. President George Bush at a G8 meeting Friday morning. G8 leaders announced a major aid, debt and trade package for Africa at the conclusion of the summit.
G8 leaders agreed Friday to give Africa $50bn in aid, and the cancellation of debt for the poorest 18 African nations. UK Prime Minister Tony Blair said leaders have committed to reach an agreement soon on ending farm subsidies in G8 countries.
