Lonesome George meets his end - will GWS go the same way?

Lonesome George, the 100-year-old giant Galapagos Island tortoise, has died, leaving no progeny and sending a bad omen to Greater Western Sydney Giants, Sydney's new AFL team. The Pinta Island sub-species, a long-time symbol of the Galapagos, is now officially extinct.

George, a two-metre-long tortoise, was found dead in his corral at the weekend by his keeper of 40 years.

Shit, that is sad. I'm hoping against hope that there are a few more of those guys hiding away somewhere. Silly, I know...

It's always tragic when a species goes extinct. :(. Especially when it's like this. :(.
