MTV Networks Africa has launched Comedy Central, a 24-hour channel dedicated to the funny side of life.
South Africans can watch top programmes, such as The Daily Show with Jon Stewart , a US late-night satire drawing its humour from current affairs and political figures.
Its spinoff, The Colbert Report, stars humorist, writer and US comedian Stephen Colbert.
Comedy Central will also feature popular shows like Gary Unmarried, That 70s Show, My Wife and Kids and 3rd Rock from the Sun
A weekday half-hour show, Comedy Central Presents, features performances by comedians, while Trigger Happy TV gets its laughs from the use of a hidden camera that films embarrassing situations in public places.
Fans of South Park will be treated to new episodes of this much-loved series, which is famous for its crude language and dark humour.
"Comedy Central will satisfy the huge hunger for quality comedy content, with side-splitting entertainment that will help viewers to see the funny side of life," said MTV Networks Africa managing director Alex Okosi.
The channel kicked off last night with a one-hour special from US stand-up comedian Jeff Dunham, followed by The Comedy Central Roast of Charlie Sheen and two new episodes of South Park.
