More than 15,000 people marched in Cape Town on Monday to demand libraries, computer labs and other resources for township schools, many of which are vastly underequipped. Yoliswa Dwane, a spokeswoman for Equal Education, said that the government spent millions on the World Cup, but had not invested the same on basic education.
This was just the beginning. We will not tire until the schools get what they deserve. You cannot just toss people around like tools for your election games and then forget about them once the election has passed. Sooner or later neglect will come to bite you in the neck, unless you take adequate steps to improve the situation.
