I wonder why aren't medical research results subject to leaks of the WikiLeaks sort yet. Also technology research leaks. Perhaps those secrets are guarded too well?

There are thousands of patents in the field of technology being submitted every month. The world of patents is a big foggy field full of constant hits under the belt, industrial espionage and lots of money. I'm sure such leaks would not only be deemed useful, but would probably be heavily sponsored by those interested. Besides, if the idea of "All information should be freely accessible to the broad public for the bigger good" has gained so much ground on the political field, there is just one step from there to the science field.

There is a good reason why inventors would want to guard their discoveries so much. Credit and acclaim equals money and influence in their respective field. And no one wants to relinquish this just like that, without a fight.
