We are finally home! With Emile! I cannot believe that it is over. It was a long journey but it is finally over...
We returned from Haiti on Friday. Andrew had come in the beginning of last week as I completed the paperwork for the adoption and Emile's visa.
Three more friends from town have adopted Haitian kids and we were able to return home together with them. One of them is Emile's best friend Marion from Pétionville, and now she will be living just a couple of blocks away from him!
The situation during my second stay in Haiti was more intense than the previous time. People had moved from shock to desperation. Although the relief oganisations are doing everything in their powers to help. The question about accelerated adoption is also very controversial, but I am sticking to my position that the international community did the right thing. We had to step in very fast and we responded as best we could. As for myself, I feel relieved that the waiting is finally over and I can hug my son and give him all my love and devotion. I also want to thank Andy for his enormous support in all this. I wouldn't be able to achieve anything without him. I cannot wait for May 1st...
There are just ten days remaining before our wedding. The friends and relatives are getting excited, one can imagine that... There is really no time to waste. Just a couple of days after we got home and we are now busy preparing for the big event. And of course young Emile and Marion are going to be our bridesman and bridesmaid. :-)
But first I have to arrange some more medical check ups and of course the pre school lessons.
