French President Nicolas Sarkozy will pay an official visit to South Africa next month, Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Aziz Pahad said on Wednesday.

He did not give any other details of the visit except that it was likely to take place on 26 and 27 February. Conflicts in Africa and peacekeeping operations on the continent would feature high on the agenda. "They have committed themselves to doing everything possible like other countries to co-operate with Africa on conflict resolutions; we are working bilaterally and through the European Union and African Union on conflict situations," Pahad said.
