http://www.sabcnews.com/politics/government/0,2172,144238,00.html

With just two months' membership in the United Nations Security Council, South Africa is to take over its presidency next Friday. The council presidency rotates among all 15 members.

They take turns serving as president for one month. South Africa says it will use its presidency to further push for the African Union (AU) agenda in the UN.

Dumisani Khumalo, South Africa's ambassador to the United Nations, says the UN should finance the AU's peacekeeping missions.

At present AU forces are in Burundi and Darfur and are ready to go into Somalia.
