Cape Town has received three awards at the prestigious 13th annual World Travel Awards.
The Mother City clinched the "Africa's Leading Destination" award, while the stately "Pink Lady", Mount Nelson Hotel, was named Africa's leading hotel.
Cape Town International Airport was voted Africa's leading airport.
More than 160 000 travel industry professionals from 120 countries were asked to vote for their leading conference centres, travel destinations, airlines, hotels and companies around the world.
Dubbed the travel industry's equivalent of the Oscars, the awards celebrate service excellence.
The trophies were presented at a gala ceremony in Turks and Caicos Islands, off Miami, on Thursday night.
World Travel Awards president Graham Cooke said: "Since the inception of the awards in 1993, we have seen a growing sophistication in the travel and tourism trade, and increased competition.
"Voted for independently by travel professionals worldwide, our award winners are having a major impact and influence on the world's travel and tourism industry.
"They are true innovators and benchmarks for our trade, especially in the areas of customer service, technology, operational efficiency, product offering and style," said Cooke.
Shamwari Game Reserve in the Eastern Cape, which was voted Africa's leading safari destination, also took world top honours as the world's leading conservation company and safari destination.
Other South African winners included Durban International Convention Centre (Africa's leading conference centre), Sun City Resort (Africa's leading conference hotel), South African Airways (Africa's leading airline, first class airline and business class airline).
