oh wow....i hate to admit it, but it's a little hard for my head to wrap itself around the concept of being too poor to even shop for items @ WalMart :( it's embarrassing to admit ~ but yeah, that is some level of poverty.
but i do think this sort of poverty even exists right here in California. there is a huge income gap in many of parts here as well. especially noticeable in southern california.
just an fyi, but here there has been an expansion, or explosion if you will, of dollar stores. The most successful as of late, that i can think of, is named The 99 Cent Only Store. lol & it's just that ~ nothing costs over one dollar ($1.00). if you click on this map, do you see all those little red-dots? yes? well, those indicate a store :/ you can see how there are a ton of these little stores near the more metropolis areas. anyhow, just saying.
